Yes. These events are limited to ages 16 and over. However, if a parent is also a registered participant, we do allow 14 years and up to attend. Due to the nature of the class, no other children are allowed.
Absolutely and…Yes!!!. Many people think they must have talent in order to paint. While you’re first one may not be a Monet or Van Gogh, Bob always said, “Talent is a pursued interest. Anything you’re willing to practice, you can do.“
So, if you’ve never painted before or have painted for years in oil or other mediums, Bob’s amazing Wet-on-Wet® technique is a must try.
If you don’t know anything about Bob, the one thing he wanted you to know is…The Joy of Painting®. That’s what we hope to share with you in each class.
Classes typically start with some basic info, fun Bob facts, a little prep work and then we dive right in. Since all our Classes and Workshops are geared around landscapes (like Bob mostly painted), we usually start with our skies. Working in “layers” you’ll follow along with the instructor and move step-by-step forward in the painting. We’ll take some breaks, answer any questions, help you out when needed, until finally, you have a Happy Little Painting!
Even though Bob never really used big words that make up many art principles and techniques, he was actually teaching us these most of the time without our knowledge. So while our focus is to enjoy these event, we like to point out along the way, how and why Bob was doing some of things you may not have even realize he was teaching us.
Our Classes/Workshop page will show our “Subject” painting for that specific Class or Workshop. The subject painting will also appear on your ticket you will receive after purchasing a seat to an event.
We will be adding events to our Classes/Workshop page with all these details for each event. You may also Subscribe to our email list and get notified as events are added to our schedule.
Class or Workshop durations may vary, but they will typically be 3 to 4 hours long and be held at various locations (venues). The event details will also be specified on the ticket receipt emailed after purchased.
Upon purchase you will receive 2 emails. An email with your receipt and an email with your ticket in PDF form. Please check your junk / spam and add us to your safe sender list if needed. If you created a website account at checkout (or already have a website account), you can find your ticket(s) by Logging In to your account: Click on ORDERS, then VIEW your Order (that has your ticket purchase), then scroll down to the “Your Tickets” section and click on PDF ticket.
If you are still having trouble, please use the Contact page and let us know so we can help resolve any issues.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the event start time. It’s important to us that everyone enjoys their time in class. Therefore we ask that you make plans to arrive early so that everyone can start class on time. We ask this because these classes and workshops are designed for students to follow along with the instructor through the various steps which will allow each student to leave with a finished painting.
We do ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the class start time, but we understand that sometimes life has unhappy accidents. In order for all students to have the best experience possible, anyone arriving more than 15 minutes late will unfortunately be considered a no-show. If this happens you will need to use the Contact page and send us a message so we can issue you a credit that you may use for a later class. See our refund / cancellation policy below.
We provide everything you need to complete a finished painting in just a few hours. We do recommend that you bring an apron if you wish and/or wear clothing you might not mind getting oil paint on.
Yes and No. Only Bob Ross Landscape Brushes and Bob Ross Landscape Paint may be used in our Classes / Workshops. Bob spent many years developing the paints and tools to make his Joy of Painting® so fantastic. As Certified Ross Instructors® we have very specific guidelines for teaching this technique and are required to use Bob Ross Brushes and Paints in order for our painters to get the best experience possible.
Therefore, if you wish to purchase your own brushes, tools & paints, we offer official Bob Ross products at a discounted price to students who wish to practice and gain more experience painting like Bob. Check out our Shop where you can buy most Bob Ross products through us at discount.
We do use and allow other brands of canvases, as long as they are the similar quality and same size specified for the class.
(Please Note: All Brushes, Paints and Cleaners must be Bob Ross Products.) This helps to ensure consistent results, brush integrity and keeps classes on schedule.
You may bring your own non-alcoholic beverages and snacks unless otherwise noted in the event details by a specific venue.
Private events or any specific Sip & Paint classes will have beverage details about any alcohol related policies.
